18 THINGS I LEARNED BY 18.

18 THINGS I LEARNED BY 18.

Hi guys! So, I just turned 18, my birthday was on Wednesday the 27th. (yes I know I’m young) I don’t know about you guys but around my birthday I always just sit back and think, one whole year just passed. where did the time go? what did I even do? what did I accomplish? did I even do anything with my life? last year I wrote down 17 things I learned by 17, so I decided I would share some of these with you, as well as other lessons I have learned up until now.

  1. happiness is a choice.
  2. you are who you surround yourself with.
  3. you must love yourself before putting yourself in the position to be loved.
  4. time heals almost everything.
  5. never doubt yourself or your abilities.
  6. if you look good, you feel good.
  7. everyone who enters your life, is there for a reason.
  8. you must live for yourself.
  9. people will promise to always be there for you, they won’t be.
  10. family is the most important thing in your life.
  11. focus on the present, you’re never as young as you are right now.
  12. don’t think about it too much, just do it.
  13. you might lose your best friend or the person you love, you think your life will never be the same again, and it won’t. but that’s okay.
  14. don’t stress over what you cannot change.
  15. change can be uncomfortable at first, but its a good thing.
  16. listen more.
  17. you are so enough, and anyone who treats you less than that isn’t worthy of you.
  18. everything happens for a reason, even if at the time you don’t know what that reason is.

Today’s post was definitely different from the other ones but I hope you guys enjoyed it! I am so blessed to live the life I live. I am so grateful for everyone and everything in my life. I truly am living my best life, and I hope you all are too! Thank you again for reading, and don’t forget to subscribe!

FALL MUST HAVES! ♥

FALL MUST HAVES! ♥

Hi loves! It is officially the first day of Fall! Who’s excited for the most beautiful and aesthetically pleasing season of them all? The leaves have started changing colors, PSL is back at Starbucks, Forever21 has their sweaters out, my nails are painted maroon, and it’s finally FALL. Today I wanted to talk about my fall essentials, from clothing to food, I have it all covered.

CLOTHING:

♥ My first must have for fall are these booties I just recently picked up from Marshalls, by the designer Franco Sarto. They are this cool, deep brown color with silver zippers on both sides. I love the fact that the zipper is on both sides, little detailsProcessed with VSCO with hb2 preset like that always get me!

Because of the cool tones, you could wear these with blue jeans and a cream sweater or even with black jeans and a burnt orange sweater. The versatility in these booties is what sold me on them, I know I will get so much wear out of these this Fall.

♥ My next clothing staple is sweaters. Big, soft, comfy sweaters are my favorite thing to wear in the fall. Dressing up or dressing down a sweater is always the answer. Forever21img_1216.jpg sells cheaper sweaters but you have to be willing to look for the better quality ones, which can sometimes be a hassle. I also like to get sweaters from Urban Outfitters and Pacsun, despite the fact that they are definitely more pricey. The orange Processed with VSCO with hb2 presetsweater pictured here has an open back so it looks really good when you wear it with bralettes underneath. The cream sweater is more V-neck shaped and is more cropped, one of my favorite sweaters I own. The dark green one is more thick and is also cropped, I love this one for layering, especially when it starts to get more chilly out.

♥ Another staple piece for fall is black jeans, and I mean you NEED these. I literally wear my black jeans 2-3 times a week. They go with everything from graphic tees to sweaters. These jeans pictured are from Hollister. They have the rips in Processed with VSCO with hb2 presetboth knees, distressed just the right amount. I usually buy my jeans from American Eagle, but these ones were such nice quality and the fit is amazing, definitely recommend.

♥ Denim. Yes, jean jackets are always in style. My favorite jacket at the moment is this one from Marshalls, literally only $20! It is the perfect fit for me.  Oversized perfectly, slightly distressed, perfect shade of blue, honestly to die for. I wear this with almost anything. It adds more to the outfit instantly, another great layering piece.

♥ The next must have for fall is socks and tights. Patterned tights dress up any boring outfit, all while keeping your legs nice and warm. I like to wear the floral tights shown with a black button up skirt and a sweater, with a staple necklace. They are also super cute with a black sweater dress or t-shirt style dress with a layered jacket. I also love to wear over the knee socks with dresses or skirts too. They look so cute and can also make your legs look slimmer. I also own a couple pair of leg warmers. Yes, leg warmers. High riding boots with the leg warmers peeping through at the top looks so good! It adds a little something extra to the outfit. Fall clothing is my favorite type of clothes to style, the color palette is just so perfect.

BEAUTY:

♥ Lets just take a moment to appreciate fall makeup trends. From berry lips to maroon eyes, I’ve tried it. Makeup is one of my favorite things to do, like ever. Being able to play around with new palettes and colors to create a look that is amazing has always been a passion of mine. The Urban Decay Naked Heat palette has every eyeshadow color you will need this fall all in one place.

♥ The next fall makeup trend I love is brownish and berry lip colors. The lipstick on the left is number 107 by Rimmel’s Kate collection, and the nudey brown color on the right is the color Posh by Mellow Cosmetics. Adding a pop of color to your look with a nice berry lipstick in the fall is the way to go! However, if you’re a person who doesn’t like to have to touch up all day, nude is a more wearable option and still makes you look put together! Tip: I always put my Burt’s Bees chapstick on while doing my face makeup so my lips can get hydrated before applying my lipstick at the end of my makeup routine. Another tip for deeper toned lipstick is to always line your lips with a lip liner to avoid feathering or bleeding on the outer part of your lip.

Processed with VSCO with hb2 preset♥ Maroon everything in the fall, even the nails. Having my nails painted always makes me feel more organized and put together. If my nails are chipped and ugly looking I feel so blah and I can’t stop picking them until all the nail polish is off, which is even worse! This is my favorite nail color at the moment by the brand OPI, in the color Guys and Galaxies. This time of year I will always either have this color on, black or sometimes a shade of gray or taupe.

YUMMY STUFF:

♥ Pumpkin spice anything is the key to my heart. My roommate brought this from home last weekend and it is so delicious! It has the pumpkin Special K flakes with cinnamon clusters and it is to die for! Honestly so good for anytime of the day especially a late night craving.

♥ Okay so obviously I saved the best for last, it’s PSL season. Pumpkin Spice Latte, for those who are not avid Starbucks goers. I always get my PSL with nonfat milk and of course whipped cream. It Processed with VSCO with hb2 presetis seriously fall in a cup. This year they were selling these environmentally friendly cups with a green leaf changing into a red leaf bordering the cup, like how cute is that, I had to get one. Also, with this cup you get 10¢ off every order, which will eventually add up over time. Money off and helping the environment just by using a cute to go cup is a definite yes from me.

I hope you guys liked reading all about my fall must haves. Hopefully it got you in the fall mood, despite this warm weather we’ve been having lately. Please subscribe to get an email update everytime I post something new! I have so many more exciting posts for the future. Happy Fall!

Thrifting… thrifting… & more thrifting.

Hey guys! Thrifting. Some hate it, some love it. It all depends on if you know how to look. A few weeks ago for Labor Day weekend I went to Sea Girt, NJ which is very close to a cute town called Manasquan. They had a strip filled with cute little stores, coffee places, and cafes. Luckily, my Aunt Paula is a local around there. She told me I had to go to this resale shop called Squan Dry Goods. They had brands like Free People, Buckle, Urban, and even high end brands like Gucci and Kate Spade. I found some awesome pieces I just had to share with you all…

The first thing I found was this almost overall style dress. It has straps with metal clips at the top, they also criss cross in the back. I bought this to pair with a striped tee shirt, or even a plain white tee. I liked this because I also could pair it with a long sleeve crop top, some tights, and booties for the fall.

Another piece I bought was just a red and black checkered flannel. I found this is theProcessed with VSCO with c1 preset men’s section, so its perfectly roomy and oversized. I really think this is a staple piece
especially for the fall/winter time. It is the brand Dickies so it is super thick and warm, great for layering or wearing alone.

The next piece I got it is a silver bangle bracelet it almost looks like a mantra band, if you guys are familiar with those. Mine says BREATHE, which is something I think we all need Processed with VSCO with c1 presetto do a little more. Simple and cute pieces like this are good for layering with other bracelets or even a watch.

The last piece and probably my favorite piece is this Sam Edelman cross body bag. Literally in LOVE with it. It is a mix of suede and leather with some fringe and zippers. Oh, and its black. What else could you want in a bag?

fringe detailing… um yes

And I know what you all are thinking, that seems great and all, but New Jersey??? I’ll never be able to go there. Luckily, this past weekend I ventured into this place called Buffalo Exchange on Carson Street in Southside. They had the nicest staff and the coolest atmosphere. It is also a resale shop that carries a range of brands. I picked up a few things from here as well.

I got this long sleeve almost forest green colored shirt. It has the detail of the ruffle sleeves. It also has an opening with a button on the back neckline. The color is perfect for the fall season. You could dress this up with black jeans, a necklace, and some heels… Or you could dress it down with some dark washed jeans and riding boots.

I also got this tee shirt from J. Crew. It has this textured paisley pattern that is on both the front and back of the shirt. I think this shirt will be great to layer with a leather or jean jacket in the fall time. I LOVE the intricate detailing.

Lastly, I got this sort of bohemian ring. I love wearing rings like these, they just add a little more to an outfit. They’re great if you have a couple to wear, they also look cute with the breathe bracelet I got from Squan Dry Goods.

I think thrifting is a great way to find unique pieces from brands you love for great prices. Especially being in college finding good deals is necessary. Finding those few awesome pieces is what makes all the searching worth it. I hope you guys enjoyed this post, and maybe it will inspire you to go to your local thrift shop.
